The Pulsar Brand Of Watches Made By Seiko

One of the most popular wristwatches ever made was the original digital Pulsar. The first Pulsars were made by Hamilton. Now Pulsar is a Seiko watch. Thge first ones were named after one of the astronomical objects that looks like an exploding star. These watches are interesting to study and feature in many educational exhibits and shows to educate people about timekeeping. The electronic features of these watches are impressive, but the design is very simple and classic.

Over time, Pulsars have become quite collectible as they were expensive when they first came out. Back in 1972, however, they were not marketed as Seikos like other models at the time were. Instead, they were named after pulsars— highly magnetic spinning stars found in distant galaxies— when they first came out. The name Pulsar is derived from pulsare, Latin for to spin.

Many people know that a pulsar is a rotating neutron star without knowing it’s also a type of watch! Pulsars have become very collectible as they were expensive when they first came out. However, later models dropped the “Pulsar” name altogether and now just refer to them as “Seiko mechanical chronograph” or “Auto Chronograph” watches depending on their model number or year made respectively.

In addition, some collectors prefer specific models over others based on their design features like a day-date window or an extra orange tip for night-time visibility. Despite their fame, very few people are aware that this model name change took place— it wasn’t till later that collectors discovered what had happened!

Today, you can find vintage Pulsars at reasonable prices if you look hard enough online [eBay]. Many people collect and admire these watches for their classic style and functionality alike— especially when compared with today’s flashier designs!

You can find some nice examples of vintage Pulsars if you look hard enough. The old digital examples that are original are in big demand. Did you know? Pulsar was the the world's first electronic digital watch.
